US and Canadian composites centres team up
THE NATIONAL Composite Center (NCC), Dayton, Ohio, USA, and the Composites Innovation Centre (CIC) Manitoba Inc of Canada have signed a letter of intent to collaborate in developing and commercialising composite materials and process technologies.
Joint projects will target sheet moulding compounds (SMC), processes for nano-, bio- and long fibre thermoplastic and thermoset materials, and applications for closed moulding, preforming, rapid prototyping and design optimisation and analysis.
NCC is a commercialisation agent for advanced materials technology. CIC is a not-for-profit corporation that is jointly sponsored by private industry and government.
The agreement between the two Centers is supported by CIC’s federal funding agency Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) through the Enhanced Representation Initiative (ERI) to enhance and formalise the relationship between Ohio and Manitoba-based companies, NCC and CIC.
