Canadian, Australian centers to cooperate on composites research

The Composites Innovation Centre Manitoba Inc. (CIC, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) and the Cooperative Research Centre for Advanced Composite Structures Ltd. (CRC-ACS, Melbourne, Australia) announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together in the development and commercialization of composite materials and process technologies.

“CIC is involved with numerous projects with industry covering many business sectors,” says Sean McKay, CIC’s executive director. “Due to our size and focus on specific core competencies, it is unrealistic to be able to properly support all their needs with internal resources only. Having relationships with other composite experts such as CRC-ACS allows us to provide superior and expanded services to our customers, developing and implementing the latest materials and technologies that will provide them with a leg up on their competitors.”

“CRC-ACS and its member organisations are delighted to be linking up with one of North America’s leading composites development centres,” says Murray Scott, CRC-ACS CEO. “International collaboration is very important to us and this agreement gives us a new opportunity to further develop our network in partnership with CIC. Australia and Canada have much in common, including in the field of composite materials, and my colleagues are looking forward to working with CIC specialists in pursuing new opportunities in areas ranging from bio-composites to aerospace composite structures.”

The Composites Innovation Centre Manitoba Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation that is jointly sponsored by private industry and government.
