Biomaterials

Supported by the expansive agricultural base in Manitoba, the CIC has made the development and commercialization of naturally occurring materials in composite structures a priority. This commitment resulted in the CIC being awarded funding to conduct projects for the commercialization of biofibres for composite applications. The Biofibres Initiative commenced in September 2006. Its purpose was to implement a series of projects aimed at commercializing natural agricultural fibre forms to reinforce composite components and to develop markets for their co-products.
